• Small, fitted latex device that fits over the cervix.
• Correct size/female is necessary.
• Used along with spermicide, placed inside the cap before used.
• Single cap can be used for a single year before replacement.
• Success rate is about 74 percent in the first year.
• Does not protect against HIV or other STDs.
• Worn up to one hour before sex and will work for 48 hours after insertion.
• Disadvantages:
o Increases the risk of cervical inflammation. It also takes some
