• Success rate is 99.5 percent in the first year of use.
• Effective for three years.
• Fewer premenstrual symptoms when using the implant.
• Disadvantages:
o Does not protect against HIV disease or STDs.
o Cause irregularities of the menstrual cycle.
o Might gain weight.
